A paragraph about “The Flipped Classroom.” Explain this instructional design and   post a link  to an educational source (e.g., video, podcast, website) discussing “The Flipped Classroom." Search online for the “open” terms mentioned in the podcast. Write a paragraph with information that extends the podcast information, including a specific site  (post a link to the site) . A paragraph on new skills you acquired from working on the two PowerPoint assignments. Reflect what you liked and/or didn't like about the assignments.  Post a screen shot of the title slide of each assignment. This is my educational source about Flipped Classroom The classroom is "flipped" in this instructional model because the teacher creates interactive lessons for the students to access at home, not in the classroom. These can be done before or after lessons, based on the teachers intent of instruction. It can be videos, live streams, interactive or ...

A paragraph about how adaptive technologies are used to support learners.  Have you or anyone you have known used such technologies? A paragraph about the challenges of using adaptive technologies in the classroom. Teachers are tasked with being the driving force of technology innovation in education -- which is directly related to teacher professional development.   Post a screen shot, link, and description  of one site you could use to stay informed of technology trends. Adaptive technology is used to support different styles of learning. This can mean those with disabilities, or those with special learning needs. This can mean a program that reads text out loud, either for those with sight impairments, dyslexia, or other reading problems. It can mean a program that, in the opposite way, adds captions to videos or other audio things for those with hearing disabilities. In contrast to Assistive technology, adaptive tech is usually just a version of an e...

PLN

The first PLN tool I see as extremely useful to teachers is Pinterest. Pinterest is easy to use, easy to create separate clusters of organization, and offers lots of group thinking with the social media feature. People can add comments or tags as they Repin things to their own boards. There's anything teacher related on their, from tips for decorating a classroom to actual worksheet printouts and lesson plans. https://www.pinterest.com/ The Teaching Channel is a second tool teachers can use. I've used this in my Intro to Education class to learn how best to observe teachers when I go into classrooms. There are videos breaking down different teaching styles and how those work for different students. It's a very literal way of teaching people the social interaction parts of teaching. https://www.teachingchannel.org/

Twitter has taught me that there are a lot of easy to access resources at my fingertips. It's easy to tag people with the intent of getting quick and easy answers (hello, my SOS at the teacher during my Weebly process. False alarm, by the way). It's also easy to organize your own Tweets, or quickly access information relevant to your interests thank to the Twitter specialty, hashtags. My only issue is my lack of inspiration to Tweet stuff, and the fact that I never used it before this class, so it really isn't a prevalent  part of my day to day social media routine. I don't remember to use it, so all of my Tweets feel a little forced to me.  Hoooo weeee, Weebly. I fought with this assignment so much. The website would largely just go unresponsive. The design aspects are not very intuitive, and I found that moving things around was way harder than it should have been. This was interesting to me, however, because the technical stuff was pretty easy for me. Beyond the...

Most schools require teachers to maintain a set of class pages on the school website. Visit a school website and look at a few class pages.  Write a paragraph about what kinds of information you see publicly, (students and parents likely have access to information you will not see without log-in privileges).   Include a screen shot and link to the site .  Be sure to identify the school and grade of students. A paragraph about how you envision yourself using technology to accomplish your professional responsibilities more efficiently and effectively. Refer to the podcast and the textbook for ideas. Last week, we visited the Technology Sandbox.  Write a paragraph about how one or more technology that you experienced could be used in the classroom.  This is the Lawton  Chiles  High school website (where I went to highschool). It's a regular 9-12 high school.  The website gives links to all the different educational departments, a...

ILP #1

For ILP #1, I did a Lynda.com tutorial. I did training on Photoshop filters for photography. I have the entirety of the Adobe suite on my laptop from being a high school yearbook editor, but only have a limited experience with each of the programs. I’m really interested in Photoshop and Illustrator for digital art purposes; however, with the time I had for this project, and because of my lack of a drawing tablet to use, I figured photography filters was my next biggest interest. Everyone likes being able to post beautiful photos on social media, but not everyone has the money for a professional photographer, or even a high quality camera. So, with some Photoshop skills, maybe we can get the next best thing. This Lynda tutorial dealt mostly with the importance of smart filters when editing photos in photoshop. Smart filters allow you to try out filters without having to re-upload the photo over and over again when you don’t like the way the filter turned out. When converting a pho...
